TpT alternatives for 2027, compared
Going Basic, or leaving? Here's what each platform charges, what you keep on a $5 resource, and whether it brings buyers with it.
One rule first: Exclusive sellers can't sell paid digital resources anywhere but TpT (the rules). Everything below is for Basic sellers, or anyone leaving.
| Platform | Fees | You keep on $5 | Brings buyers? |
|---|---|---|---|
| TpT Exclusive | 22.5% + $59.95/yr | $3.88 | Yes |
| TpT Basic | 45% + $0.30 per resource | $2.45 | Yes |
| Payhip (free plan) | 5% + card fees | about $4.30 | No |
| Etsy | $0.20 listing + 6.5% + 3% and $0.25 processing | about $4.08 | Yes |
| Gumroad | 10% + $0.50 per direct sale (30% via its Discover marketplace) | about $4.00 | A little |
| Shopify | $39/month + card fees | about $4.55, before the monthly fee | No |
| Stan Store | $29/month + card fees | about $4.55, before the monthly fee | No |
| Eduki | 30–50% commission + €0.39 per material | about $2.10–$3.10 | Yes (strongest in Europe) |
Card fees assumed at 2.9% + $0.30 (US Stripe). Eduki's commission drops as you upload more materials. Fees change; check each platform before deciding.
How to choose
- You have an email list or a Pinterest following: Payhip (free to start) or Stan Store. You keep the most, and your buyers already know you.
- You rely on marketplace search: Etsy. Teachers do shop there, and fees are far below TpT Basic.
- You want a full branded shop: Shopify. It's worth it once you sell a few hundred dollars a month off TpT.
- You sell in Europe: Eduki, which is big in German-speaking countries.
Many sellers do both: keep TpT Basic for discovery, and send their own audience to a store where they keep 85–95%.
Newer options
Sellers on r/TeachersPayTeachers also mention Classful, Made By Teachers and NODE. Some of them pause new seller sign-ups or change terms often, so check their current seller page before planning a move.
The slow part is the same everywhere
None of these can import from TpT, because TpT has no export. LessonCrate turns your store into a Shopify import file, an Etsy bulk sheet and a Payhip sheet, so moving is copy and paste instead of retyping. See the guides for Shopify and Payhip.
Questions
What is the best alternative to Teachers Pay Teachers?
It depends on where your buyers come from. Etsy and Eduki bring their own shoppers but take more per sale. Payhip, Shopify and Stan Store keep more per sale but you bring the traffic from your email list, Pinterest or Instagram.
Which TpT alternative has the lowest fees?
Payhip's free plan takes 5% per sale plus card fees. Stan Store and Shopify take no sales commission but charge $29 to $39 a month. Gumroad takes 10% plus $0.50 per direct sale.
Can I use these alternatives if I'm a TpT Exclusive seller?
Not for paid digital teaching resources. Exclusive sellers can only sell those on TpT. Basic sellers can use any of these alongside TpT.
