TpT vs Stan Store for teacher sellers
Stan is a link-in-bio store built for selling from Instagram and TikTok. It takes nothing per sale, charges $29 a month, and brings no buyers. Here's when that adds up.
What you keep per sale
| Fees | Keep on $5 | Keep on $1.50 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 45% + $0.30 per resource | $2.45 | $0.53 | |
| 22.5% (+ $0.15 under $3) + $59.95/yr | $3.88 | $1.01 | |
| $29/month + card fees | $4.56 | $1.16 |
Card fees at 2.9% + $0.30 on a single-item US order. Stan's monthly fee ($300 billed yearly) isn't spread per sale; Exclusive's yearly fee isn't either.
When the monthly fee pays off
- Against TpT Basic: Stan keeps about $2.11 more per $5 sale, so roughly 14 sales a month cover the $29.
- Against Payhip's free plan: Payhip has no monthly fee and keeps $4.31 of $5. Stan only pulls ahead above about $580 a month in sales.
- Against Gumroad: Gumroad also has no monthly fee but keeps $3.56 of $5, a dollar less than Stan. Stan wins from about 29 sales of $5 a month.
So if you're testing whether your followers will buy at all, Payhip's free plan or Gumroad cost nothing until you sell. Stan makes sense once sales are steady, or when you want its other tools.
What Stan is good at
- Selling from social media. The whole store lives in your Instagram or TikTok bio link, with a checkout that works well on phones.
- Building a list. Free lead magnets collect emails, and courses, memberships and booking calls sit next to your resources.
What TpT does that Stan doesn't
- Buyers. Nobody browses Stan for teaching resources. Every sale comes from people you send there.
- Sales tax. TpT collects and pays it. On Stan it's your job: Stan can calculate it through Stripe, but only for regions where you're registered. Not tax advice.
- Discount codes. They're only on Stan's $99 Creator Pro plan.
- Your listings. Stan has no product import, so each resource is added by hand, and TpT has no export to copy from.

Questions
Is Stan Store worth it for a TpT seller?
If you already sell from Instagram or TikTok, often yes. Stan keeps about $4.56 of a $5 sale, against $2.45 on TpT Basic, so about 14 sales a month cover the $29 Creator plan. It brings no buyers of its own, though.
Does Stan Store take a cut of each sale?
No. Stan charges 0% per sale and makes its money from the monthly plan. You still pay card processing to Stripe or PayPal, about 2.9% + $0.30 per sale in the US.
Can a TpT Exclusive seller use Stan Store?
Not for paid digital teaching resources. From January 1, 2027, Exclusive sellers can only sell those on TpT. They can still link their Stan page to their TpT listings.
