How to move your TpT store to WooCommerce
Already have a WordPress site or blog? WooCommerce turns it into a store with no monthly platform fee. Here's how to get your TpT listings onto it without retyping them.
Before you start
- Check your tier. Exclusive sellers can't sell paid digital resources on their own site from January 1, 2027. See the Exclusive rules.
- Have WordPress and WooCommerce running, with a payment method set up (WooPayments, Stripe or PayPal).
- Gather your files. Put your PDFs in one folder, named like your listings.
1. Export your listings
TpT has no export button. Copy each listing by hand, or use LessonCrate to get a WooCommerce product CSV of your whole store: titles, formatted descriptions, prices, categories, tags and images. Every product is marked downloadable and comes in as a draft, so nothing goes live early.
2. Import into WooCommerce
- In WordPress, go to Products → Import.
- Choose
woocommerce.csvand click Continue. Leave “Update existing products” off for the first import. - The column mapping is filled in for you. Click Run the importer.
WooCommerce downloads each image from its web address, so a big store can take a few minutes. Keep the tab open until it says it's done.
3. Attach your files
Open each draft product. In Product data, Downloadable and Virtual are already ticked. Under Downloadable files, click Add File, upload the PDF, then Publish. Sort your products by name and your folder by name, and work down both together.
4. Before you share the link
- Buy one product yourself with a 100% coupon, and check the download email arrives.
- Search descriptions for TpT wording such as “green star”, “TpT credit” or “leave feedback”, and remove it.
- Sales tax: TpT collects it for you; WooCommerce only does if you set it up. Check your state's rules. Not tax advice.
WooCommerce or Shopify?
WooCommerce has no monthly platform fee, but you look after WordPress hosting, updates and backups yourself. Shopify costs $39 a month and handles all of that. If you already run a WordPress blog for your TpT store, WooCommerce is the natural fit. If you don't, the Shopify guide or Payhip is simpler.
Questions
Can I import TpT listings into WooCommerce?
Not directly, because TpT has no export. Once your listings are in a WooCommerce product CSV, the built-in importer (Products > Import) creates every product at once, with descriptions, prices, tags and images.
Does WooCommerce sell digital downloads?
Yes, with no extra plugin. Mark a product Downloadable and Virtual, upload the PDF in its Downloadable files box, and buyers get a download link after paying.
What does WooCommerce cost?
The plugin is free. You pay for WordPress hosting and a domain, plus card fees on each sale (about 2.9% + 30¢ in the US with WooPayments or Stripe). There's no sales commission.
Skip the retyping
